Choosing The Right Audience to Share New Ideas and Opportunities With – Don’t “f” It Up Either!
Sometimes all we really need is the right venue or audience to see an idea come to fruition or even to realize a dream. A place where (at least subconsciously) we know the other parties are most likely going to give us the responses we’re hoping for.
This is not a bad thing! There’s a time for seeking out environments we know are going to be supportive and in the ways that can best help us.
Friends are often at their best when called on to be supportive and thrive in these settings seeing as they were specifically cast to play the role of the “chosen, consummate ____________”
This is precisely why you choose (CHOOSE) your audience.
Not every idea will be suitable to every audience. In fact, no idea will. Nothing is suitable to everyone.
I don’t see the problem in that anymore. I now know this to be one of my strongest assets.
While in the process of developing your idea, pick a topic you find thought provoking to begin producing content about on the side. Once you have your topic in mind, narrow your focus to something specific that relates directly to what it is about this topic that makes it such a draw for you.
Keep it super simple to start. Something that’s achievable. Something small but measurable.
Start. Start writing. Start recording. Blogging. Photographing. Designing. Whatever it is you’ve done, you do, or you’re planning to do…
start.
Do it scared. Do it messy. But, do it!
Maybe, you’ve been collecting recipes with the hope of publishing a family recipe book. Perhaps, like my Orthopedist, you’ve written a children’s book you’d like to have published and dedicated to your own children.
Choose your audience.
Who could you see yourself talking about that topic with?
Initiate the invites and get it on the calendar.
And, you know the rule: If it’s on the calendar, it’s a commitment, not an option.
Small steps can lead to large impacts.
