What is priority in your life? How do those priorities fit within your dreams and aspirations?
What if I told you that you could have time for both? Undoubtedly, though skeptical you may be, you would want to learn how. Now, naming something as a priority and finding the time to live up to those priorities are two entirely different ballgames. But, I’m here to tell you that you can have both.
The first stumbling block to overcome is realizing that though we may list things as priorities, how we actually spend our time is often in vast contrast to those priorities. This is where a mindset change must come into play.
Step one is to begin dedicating blocks of time, no matter how small, focusing on those things we actually consider, or have at least named as, our priorities. If writing a blog is one of the things you’ve established as a priority in your life, then you need to dedicate time to writing, no matter how small those blocks of times may be to start.
Do this and you will quickly find yourself spending more time on your writing and less time playing video games.
But, isn’t my job one of my number one priorities? Absolutely, to start. But, there are countless of studies of both professional and hobbyist bloggers alike who have replaced that full-time income, and then some, simply by doing what they what they love. Blogging. Many, if not most, of which started this process while still working full-time jobs.
And, let’s face it, the fact of the matter is, you do not spend every waking moment working your job. You choose to do other things in your free time. Watch TV, relax from work, play games, read books, flip through magazines, and any number of things. Imagine if you could replace just one of those things a day, or even a week, with blogging. Add to that you’ll be blogging about a topic that brings you passion, and you will quickly find you don’t miss those other activities at all.
Blogging is by no means a get rich quick scheme, it takes patience and perseverance. You are definitely in it for the long haul. But, if you’re doing what you love every day, well, how can you beat that?
I challenge you today to pick a topic you have passion about and just start by writing short articles on that topic, saving all of your writings and see where they take you in a month’s time. Now I’m not saying it won’t take dedication, time, and perseverance, But, Is this something you can see yourself doing on an ongoing basis? Is it bringing you the joy you expected? Is this something you can see yourself making money doing? If you can answer yes to any, or all of these questions, I’d say you have a challenge worth pursuing further.
